Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski marry in secret DC ceremony
'We wanted it to be really small and simple and not what you expected from Mika and Joe'
Morning Joe co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough have wed in a secret DC ceremony.
According to Vanity Fair, the pair were wed in the city's National Archives, in front of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights.
The couple were engaged last spring at the Hotel Du Cap in Antibes, France, though they are known to keep their relationship secretive, never discussing it on air.
Donald Trump offered to have them married at the White House during a visit in 2017, but they declined. The ceremony was instead a low-key affair, inviting only family members and close friends.
“We wanted it to be really small and simple and not what you expected from Mika and Joe,” Brzezinski said. “Everything we do is exposed, and everything felt exposed every step of the way, so we want this to be private until it’s over."
"We wanted to recognize it more quietly and have the people who are most important to us around us. And you know, our show is a cocktail party every morning.”
