My Mad Fat Diary to return for third series in 2015
It has yet to be confirmed when Rae and her friends will be hitting the screen
My Mad Fat Diary is to return for a third series, Channel 4 has confirmed today.
The Bafta-nominated drama is expected to return to E4 in the New Year.
Based on the book My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary, the drama follows the life of Rachel ‘Rae’ Earl as she deals with body image issues, mental health problems and an unsupportive mother.
Set in 1996 Lincolnshire, series one told the humorous and tragic story of Rae who had just left a psychiatric hospital and faced telling her friends about her problems with depression and anxiety.
The drama’s second series followed Rae as she made the big step to sixth form college while trying to live with her moody pregnant mother and her Tunisian boyfriend.
She also met her long-lost father and tried to deal with her mixed feeling towards the love of her life, Finn.
Starring Sharon Rooney, Claire Rushbrook and Nico Mirallegro, the second series started in February and ended in March earlier this year.
Channel 4 has yet to confirm when the award-winning drama will return in 2015.
