New to Netflix in December

Netflix is on hand to provide you comfort from the cold weather with a bursting list of new additions arriving in December.

The streaming service has released its forthcoming schedule and, as expected, it’s going to be yet another month for subscribers with plenty of films and TV shows to watch in between the Christmas festivities.

Spearheading this month's releases is Roma, the hugely-acclaimed drama from Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron. Following the life of a middle-class family and their live-in housekeeper, played by Yalitza Aparicio, the 1970s-set Mexican drama is expected to embed Netflix firmly in the forthcoming awards race.

Another big release is post-apocalypse drama Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock, as well as Mowgli, the delayed Jungle Book film from Lord of the Rings star Andy Serkis.

Television wise, Netflix will release You, a brand new series from Greg Berlanti billed as a darker version of CW series Gossip Girl. Berlanti's very own Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will also release a Christmas special.

Hoping to capitalise on the success of Making a Murderer is The Innocent Man, a true-crime documentary following two historic crimes in Oklahoma and the ensuing case that followed, while Bruce Springsteen's Broadway show will also become available to stream.

It's not just the original content that Netflix is dishing out. Films including The Silence of the Lambs, The Big Lebowski and About a Boy will be added in December, as will the fourth season of BBC series Peaky Blinders.

You can find the full list below.
