Nicole Kidman has explained how she came to sing on the opening credits of The Undoing.

The Australian actor showed off her musical talents in Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge!, but has previously said that she finds singing uncomfortable in comparison to acting.

However, Kidman lends her voice to the theme song of The Undoing – which is available to watch in the UK on Now TV – in which she performs a rendition of “Dream a Little Dream of Me”.

Explaining how the cover came about in a featurette for HBO, Kidman recalled: “So about a month before we're about to lock picture, [director] Susanne Bier calls me and says, ‘Um, I've had an idea, I want you to record the title sequence.’”

“I was like, ‘Absolutely not’ and then she said, ‘You have to’ and then I went, ‘OK,’” she said.

Sharing the clip on Instagram, Kidman captioned the video: “Danish director + musician husband + filming in a basement studio = nervous singer of #TheUndoing theme song.”

Kidman stars opposite Hugh Grant in The Undoing, which is the latest show from Big Little Lies writer David E Kelley.

The pair play a successful couple whose lives begin to unravel after the mother of a child at their son’s school is murdered.

In a three-star review for The Independent, Ed Cumming wrote that the drama “struggles to reconcile satire with a traditional thriller”.
