The Great British Bake Off: Noel Fielding ‘given £150,000 pay rise’ to stay on show following Sandi Toksvig departure

Comic has hosted the Channel 4 version of the series since 2017

Noel Fielding has reportedly been given a £150,000 pay rise by Channel 4 in order to keep him as one of the hosts of The Great British Bake Off.

Fielding’s salary bump comes in the aftermath of Sandi Toksvig’s departure from the series.

Toksvig announced in January that she was leaving the show after three series to work on other projects.

According to The Sun, Fielding’s increased salary is an attempt to maintain a degree of continuity between series.

“With Sandi leaving, it’s important they keep up with continuity to ensure people continue [to watch],” a source said. “Noel secured a healthy salary rise off the back of the success of the first two series.”

Fielding previously expressed sadness over Toksvig’s departure, and admitted he now felt like “Tom without Jerry”.

The pair will host the long-running competition series one last time together this month, in a special celebrity edition of the show in aid of Stand Up to Cancer.

Louis Theroux, James Blunt, Richard Dreyfuss and Kelly Brook are among the stars to take part in the specials, which begins on 10 March on Channel 4.

A date for the next official series of The Great British Bake Off, and the identity of Toksvig’s replacement, have yet to be announced.
