Ryan Seacrest is being criticised for an awkward red carpet interview with Oscar-nominee Richard E Grant .
The US host was speaking to the British star when he misinterpreted a joke made by the Best Supporting Actor nominee.
Grant was discussing his positive working relationship with Melissa McCarthy, quipping: "She's expecting my twins next summer."
A confused Seacrest asked Grant to repeat himself, clearly unsure if the actor was serious.
