Trailer: Peaky Blinders Season 4

Peaky Blinders fans will enter the world of Tommy Shelby in a new virtual reality game.

The game will use enhanced AI performance technology, allowing characters to respond to players’ gestures, movement, voice, sound and body language for the first time.

Players will interact with objects and clues from the hit show and come face to face with new and much-loved characters. The game will also feature a mixture of iconic and new locations.

The Government-backed project is being led by the immersive VR company Maze Theory, and the game is expected to launch in 2020.

Russell Harding, executive producer of Maze Theory, said: “They [players] will literally be part of Peaky Blinders’ world and be able to interact with characters in ways no one can predict,” according to Variety.

The Government is investing £33m in the UK’s immersive technology industry through its modern Industrial Strategy: a department that aims to support businesses and create jobs.

A new Wallace and Gromit storytelling experience is also receiving Government investment.

Business Secretary Greg Clark said: “Success stories like award-winning Wallace and Gromit and BAFTA-winning Peaky Blinders are part of the reason why our creative industries are truly world-leading – attracting audiences both here in the UK and internationally and helping create a sector already worth some £100bn to our economy.

“It’s why through our modern Industrial Strategy we’re investing to build on this huge global demand for UK creative content and ensure we lead the world in the next generation of entertainment.”

Peaky Blinders – starring Cillian Murphy - is set to return to the BBC for a new series later this year.
