Sam Mendes' horror drama starring Josh Hartnett and Eva Green is to return
Horror drama Penny Dreadful has been renewed for a ten-episode second season in 2015, producers have confirmed.
The Sky Atlantic and Showtime co-production, starring Josh Hartnett, Eva Green and Timothy Dalton, will return to shoot on location in Dublin later this year.
Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes is behind the TV series, written by John Logan, about a gang of adventurers who battle to defeat evil in Victorian London.
Stuart Murphy, director of Sky Entertainment channels, has said he is “really looking forward” to continuing Penny Dreadful, while Showtime president David Nevins added that recommissioning it was “one of the easiest decisions” he had made.
“The series has had worldwide impact, drawing big, passionate audiences on both sides of the Atlantic,” Nevins said. “John Logan has deftly created an epic series that has drawn raves from a wide-range of audiences from quality drama lovers to critics, to hardcore genre fans.”
