Sid Owen has revealed that he has no plans to return to EastEnders, because he prefers running a restaurant in France.

The 40-year-old, best recognised for playing Ricky Butcher in the BBC1 soap which he left in January, also admitted he has "retired" from acting after announcing that he was taking a break last year.

He said in a newspaper interview: "I'm done with the UK and I hope that you will never see me on your TV screens again because I'm done and retired. I much prefer the lifestyle I have now."
