The comeback of cult BBC Two series Robot Wars is drawing ever nearer - and there's a trailer to prove it.

Dara O'Briain and Angela Scanlon have both been announced as replacing Craig Charles as host for the six-part revival that has been filmed in a "bullet-proof" arena in Glasgow.

It seems like producers have made good on their word to introduce "new and improved" House Robots also with some familiar models from the original returning in a more powerful state than before.

To confirm, then, these robots are new models of fan favourites Sir Killalot, Matilda, Shunt and Dead Metal.

James Cooper of RoboChallenge - the company tasked with bringing these to life - told DigitalTrends: "When we were first commissioned to design and produce the new House Robots we really wanted to take them to the next level.

"To ensure each House Robot was as menacing, powerful, and a leap ahead of the originals as possible we created a bit of competition. By splitting our team of engineers into three to work on Matilda, Shunt and Dead Metal, each team worked to make their robot as mean as possible! We [then] all joined back together to create Sir Killalot."

An airdate for Robot Wars is yet to be announced but new episodes will be unveiled before the end of 2016.
