Rather than risk a potentially "stressful" exchange with a member of the broadcast press, Roseanne Barr has announced that she will instead record hero own video interview.

Earlier this week, the actor – who was recently fired from the American sitcom Roseanne following a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett – announced to her “wonderful fans” that a “television interview” would be coming very soon.

However, writing on Twitter today, Barr declared that any such interview would be “too stressful and untrustworthy for me and my fans” and that she would be self-taping an interview and uploading it to YouTube. The 65-year-old then asked fans to “sign up and get ready”.

Reports have pointed out that the interview happens to coincide with the Emmys announcement this Thursday. Barr’s name was put forward by ABC for Outstanding Lead Actress before the offending tweet was posted.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” a statement from the network, issued hours after the initial incident, read.

Barr has said she “horribly regretted” sending out the tweet, but recently acknowledged she had been offered “many things” since being fired. “I almost already accepted one really good offer to go back on TV and I might do it,” she added. “But we’ll see.”

Roseanne’s first episode was watched live by over 18 million viewers, AMC’s highest-rated and most watched series this year, leading to the show being immediately renewed. The network has since begun work on a Roseanne spin-off titled The Conners, which would feature all the main cast minus Barr.
