The Last Leg: Comedian Rosie Jones shocks viewers with ‘disgusting’ and ‘totally inappropriate’ Greta Thunberg joke

Comedian Rosie Jones shocked viewers of The Last Leg after making a “disgusting” joke about Greta Thunberg.

While appearing on the New Year’s Eve edition of the Channel 4 comedy series, Jones remarked that while she admired Thunberg’s activism, the 16-year-old should be participating in more age-appropriate activity.

“I think Greta’s amazing and what she’s doing is brilliant, but don’t do it now,” Jones said. “She needs to live a little.”

“She’s only 16,” she continued. “She should be doing two things: drinking Lambrini and getting fingered.”

On Twitter, the joke received a mixed response.

“Rosie Jones was totally inappropriate,” read one tweet. “I normally like your show, but what she said about a 16 year old is below any standards.”

Another viewer tweeted: “I’m disgusted by the comment that Rosie Jones just made on your show. It shouldn’t have been applauded.”

“Massive f***ing yikes on the Last Leg of the Year,” read another. “@Channel4, are you serious?”

Jones’ joke did have some supporters, however, with one tweet claiming it to be “a highlight of 2019”.

Jones, a stand-up comedian and regular at the Edinburgh Fringe, has written for and appeared on panel shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats and Would I Lie to You?
