Scrubs: Ted stuck in a thought

Hulu has removed three episodes of Scrubs from its platform over blackface.

The episodes, titled “My Fifteen Seconds”, “My Jiggly Ball” and “My Chopped Liver”, were all taken down at the request of the show’s creator Bill Lawrence.

One of the scenes sees Zach Braff’s lead character JD in blackface at a party, while another shows Sarah Chalke’s Elliott wearing it during a fantasy sequence.

Scrubs debuted in 2001 and ran for nine seasons. In May, Braff admitted some of the show’s jokes are “way too un-PC” to be aired today.

The news of Scrubs episodes being taken down comes after multiple episodes of 30 Rock were removed for the same reason, at the request of creator Tina Fey.

Numerous white actors have also recently stepped down from playing black roles, including Kristen Bell in animated show Central Park.

Gone with the Wind, meanwhile, has just returned to HBO Max, after temporarily being pulled, with a disclaimer that the film “denies the horrors of slavery”.
