Sex and the City revival: Show’s stars to be paid more than $1 million per episode, reports claim

Filming on 10-episode series will reportedly begin this spring

The stars of the Sex and the City reboot will reportedly make more than $1m (£738,000) per episode of the new series.

On Sunday (10 January), it was confirmed after months of speculation that the Nineties sitcom would be making a comeback with a mini-series – titled And Just Like That… – for streaming service HBO Max.

The series will follow Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) as they navigate love and friendship in their fifties, but notably it won’t include Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones.

As reported by Variety, the show’s stars will take home more than $1m per new episode of the show. The revival will consist of 10 half-hour episodes, with all three lead actors also serving as executive producers on the show.

While the news of the show’s return was widely celebrated by fans, some suggested that the revival shouldn’t go ahead without the character of Samantha.

Cattrall has publicly distanced herself from Sex and the City and its star, Parker, in recent years amid reports of a feud between the pair.

However, addressing Cattrall’s absence from the reboot, Parker wrote on Instagram on Monday (11 January) that she didn’t dislike her former co-star.

“Samantha isn’t part of this story,” she wrote. “But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.”

Sex and the City originally ran on HBO for six seasons from 1998 to 2004, spawning two films in 2008 and 2010. And Just Like That… will reportedly begin filming this spring.
