SNL election ad parody explains why some Americans are worried about not voting for Trump
‘My entire personality is hating Donald Trump. If he’s gone, what am I supposed to do?’
A Saturday Night Live political advertisement has jokingly made the case for why some Americans would consider voting for Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
On Saturday, the show shared a skit titled Election Ad, which showed Americans discussing the importance of the presidential election, and whether they want “four more years of Donald Trump or a fresh start with Joe Biden?”
“Everyone knows this could be the most important election in our nation's history. And the two choices couldn’t be more different,” the skit began. “Can we survive four more years of scandal, name-calling, and racial division?
“Or do we want a leader who unites the country?”
However, despite admitting that he wants to vote for Biden because he’s “better,” Pete Davidson explained he is “worried” - prompting other voters to reveal they are worried too.
According to the voters, the worry is that they won’t have anything to talk about if the president is no longer president.
“If Donald Trump isn’t president, then what are we going to talk about?” the group of voters asked. “Like, what will our conversations even be?”
“My entire personality is hating Donald Trump. If he’s gone, what am I supposed to do? Focus on my kids again? No thanks,” one person featured in the ad said.
Another said she used to watch “civil rights videos and wonder what it would be like to live in those times,” before explaining that thanks to President Trump, she “gets it.”
Other voters expressed their concern for the future of news, with one voter questioning what it will even be about if President Trump is not re-elected, and what MSNBC host Rachel Maddow will talk about, while Davidson questioned what he would send to his friends if not the president’s tweets.

“Sure, he’s historically bad for the country, but he’s given us so much,” the ad continued. “Injecting bleach in our blood. Openly calling African nations sh*tholes. Kids in cages wasn’t even a phrase before Trump. He changed the game.”
Ultimately, the group of voters said they would be worried about what will happen when their “favourite villain” is replaced.
However, the cast eventually came up with a silver lining - that even if Mr Biden is elected, President Trump “isn’t going away.”
“If anything, he’s going to get more vocal, and angrier, and crazier,” the voters said. “And with all his crimes, there’s bound to be a trial at some point. And maybe Trump will represent himself in court.”
The group also hypothesised about the possibility of Mr Trump and his daughter Ivanka running together in 2024, which they admitted would be “hilarious.”
The satirical ad, which said it was paid for by Trump addicts of America, concluded: “You know he’s bad for you, but it’s hard to imagine life without him.”
The skit resonated with viewers on social media, with many revealing that they know people like those featured in the election ad.
“This reminds me of many people on Twitter,” one person tweeted. “Many, many people…”
Another said: “I feel personally attacked by this SNL sketch."
The ad also prompted a response from Maddow, who joked: “I’ll be fine. I swear!”
