Stephen Colbert jokes that Michael Wolff stole ‘Fire And Fury’ material from new show

'The great thing about the Trump administration is, everything you imagine? You’re right!!'

Stephen Colbert has been an open critic of Donald Trump’s on his late night show, mocking the President’s various Tweets and mishaps.

Come later this year, and the host will take things to the next level, releasing an animated show dedicated to lampooning Trump. Fittingly, the show is titled Our Cartoon President.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, Colbert commented on Michael Wolff’s recent publication on Trump, Fire and Fury, joking that the writer stole material from the animated show.

“There is nothing in the book that’s not in our show – and we just guessed!” Colbert said according to Deadline. “The great thing about the Trump administration is, everything you imagine? You’re right!!”

Colbert went on to joke about how Our Cartoon President “is about how [Trump] is a very stable genius,” poking fun at Trump’s recent Tweets about his own genius. “What we’re trying to capture with this show is how stable his genius is.”

The comic will act as a producer on the show and begins on the US network Showtime on 11 February.
