Stranger Things season 2: Eleven confirmed to return as main character

Not even Netflix could have predicted that Stranger Things would become its third most watched property, yet the nostalgic first season enamoured audiences around the globe earning it a second run in the process.

Having constructed the series to continue, creators Matt and Ross Duffer understandably left several things hanging in the balance as the credits rolled on the final episode - most notably, the status of mysterious character Eleven played by young actor Millie Bobby Brown.

Consider this mystery solved: TVLine has confirmed that the character will return. What's more is Brown has been updated to a series regular in the process.

Of course, this doesn't mean we know exactly where the character went when she vanished with the Demogorgon but it's a sure bet we'll see her Upside-Down travails early into the series' second run.

On Monday (31 October), Netflix released a spoof news report on the disappearance of Barb (Shannon Purser) both to celebrate Halloween and tease season 2 which the Duffer Brothers have promised will address the doomed character's fate.

Upon the second season announcement, all nine of its episode titles were revealed with number two potentially hinting at the return of Eleven. The first episode's title 'Madmax' no doubt refers to new character Max played by Sadie Sink whose been joined to the main cast alongside Dacre Montgomery who'll star in the upcoming big-screen version of Power Rangers.

Child actors Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin will all reprise their roles alongside Winona Ryder, David Harbour and Charlie Heaton. Stranger Things will return in 2017.
