Week three of Strictly Come Dancing saw contestants perform various numbers from famous Hollywood movies, ranging from Flashdance to Beverly Hills Cop.

Danny Mac & Oti Mabuse managed to wow the judges with their Paso Doble to “The Train/El Sombrero Blanco,” scoring the duo 36 points.

However, they weren’t the only pair to score big so early in the competition; Olympic gymnast Claudia Fragapane, along with partner AJ Pritchard, also scored 36 points with their Charleston to “You Give a Little Love” from Bugsy Malone.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, former Labour MP and shadow Chancellor Ed Balls failed to impress the judges (not the public, however), scoring just 24 points for his strange Samba to “Cuban Pete” while dressed as The Mask.

Here are the five best performances from week one of Strictly according to the judges (and Ed Balls’s Samba).

Danny Mac and Oti Mabuse's Paso Doble to "The Train/El Sombero Blanco"

Claudia Fragapane and AJ Pritchard's Charleston to "You Give a Little Love"

Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton's American Smooth to "Singin' In the Rain"

Greg Rutherford and Natalie Lowe's American Smooth to "Everything I Do"

Daisy Lowe and Aljaz Skorjanec's Quickstep to "A Spoonful of Sugar"

Ed Balls and Katya Jones Samba's to "Cuban Pete"

Last week's competition courted controversy after Anastacia was automatically put through to the next round after injuring herself and being unable to perform in the dance off.

According to reports, judge Bruno Tonilio threatened to quit over the move, something the BBC has since denied.

Meanwhile, you can find out which competitor is leaving tonight at 7.15pm on BBC One.
