Swamp Thing has been cancelled.

Only one episode of the live-action adaptation has been made available on Warner Bros’ new streaming service DC Universe, but already the series has been canned.

Based on the DC comic book created by Len Wein, Swamp Thing will conclude its first season of 10 episodes before ending.

There were reports before the series began that executives were losing faith in the show, with the initial episode order being reduced from 13 to 10.

While Warner Bros did not comment at the time, the cancellation seemingly confirms that executives have been worried about the series.

Swamp Thing centres on Alec Holland (Andy Bean), a scientist who hopes to cure an epidemic affecting Louisiana. However, an experiment goes wrong and Alec fuses with the swamp, turning him into the eponymous plant-based monster.

While Swamp Thing may have been cancelled, the DC Universe show Titans has been renewed for a second series. There’s currently no word on whether Doom Patrol will return, while the second half of Young Justice: Outsiders will air this July.
