The Daily Show: Jon Stewart's replacement Trevor Noah appears in new Comedy Central trailer
Noah takes Stewart's seat to the tune of Kanye West's 'Power'
As Jon Stewart fans mourn the end of the presenter’s 16-year tenure at The Daily Show, Comedy Central has given a taste of the programme's future by releasing its first trailer featuring Trevor Noah.
The slick video shows Noah limbering up to take his spot on the iconic The Daily Show stage, as Kanye West’s Power plays in the background.
“Same chair, different ass,” the trailer reads as Trevor makes himself comfortable.
Noah has previously revealed that he intends to change the show’s tack, by criticising websites such Buzzfeed and Gawker as well as The Daily Show’s long-held rival Fox News.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s press tour earlier in August, the South African comedian said, according to Entertainment Weekly: “The Daily Show was based on an emerging 24 hour news cycle, that’s everything it was.
“That’s what inspired The Daily Show. Now you look at news and it’s changed. It’s no longer predicated around 24 hour news. There are so many different choices.”
“I’m taking things in a slightly different direction, but to the same endpoint,” Noah added.
The first Daily Show episode to feature Noah will air on 28 September. In the meantime, Comedy Central will show Stewart's most popuarl The Daily Show episodes during the day.
