News of The Great British Bake Off could lose its four presenters and be riddled with advert breaks.
However, it’s not just viewers reacting to the series changing channel; numerous ex-contestants have spoken about the change on Twitter, including last year’s Flora Shedden and Tamal Ray (but not Nadiya Hussain just yet).
“Really sad to hear that the BBC has lost rights to Bake Off,” Shedden wrote. “Its success is down to format and aesthetic - commercialising will ruin that.”
Series four’s Richard Burr added: “Oh look, we've made something beautiful that loads of people love. Lets render it down and hawk off the bits!”
As yet, the core on-screen team - Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc - have yet to comment since the news broke . Perkins did, however, retweet a BBC statement.
