Mary Berry, judge on the BBC’s The Great British Bake Off, has revealed she was once asked if she would like to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking to Radio Times, the celebrity chef said she enjoyed watching the reality TV show but would not wish to appear on it.

"My husband and children would kill me,” she explained. “I have two left feet and would make a terrible fool of myself."

The 80-year-old TV personality went on to say that she was starstruck by Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman when they both appeared on the Graham Norton show. "He is lovely, and so tall,” she added.

With a few more months until Bake Off returns to our screens, Berry’s next TV venture is the six-part BBC Two show Mary Berry's Foolproof Cooking.

In the show, the pro-baker will give tips and tricks on how to cook well, sharing recipes she has acquired throughout her career.

"The most important thing is to weigh accurately," she continued. "Also, people often use the wrong sized tin and get a thin cake."

Berry courted controversy last year when she said she did not want to see 'a large person’ judge The Great British Bake Off. The final of the BBC show was watched by an average 13.4 million people.
