Al Pacino looks set to play a Nazi hunter on the upcoming drama series The Hunt on Amazon.

The role would be the acclaimed actor’s first ever regular role on a television show, although he has appeared in brief roles in the miniseries Angels in America and The Godfather Saga.

Variety reports that talks regarding the role have almost closed, although Amazon has yet to confirm the casting.

The Hunt, which has Get Out director Jordan Peele as an executive producer, centres on a pack of New York-based Nazi Hunters in 1977.

After discovering that hundreds of high ranking Nazi officials are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the United States, the group go seeking justice.

Percy Jackson actor Logan Lerman has already been announced as a cast member. The series has been written and created by David Weil, while Nikki Toscano – producer of 24: Legacy – will act as showrunner.

Pacino can next be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, followed by Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman.
