The Nanny's Fran Drescher says she has spoken with Cardi B's team about a reboot
Drescher says the rapper is her 'top choice'

The Nanny star Fran Drescher says she’s been in talks with Cardi B’s team about a possible reboot of her famous sitcom.
Drescher broached the topic in a recent interview with ET, in which she called the rapper her “top choice” for the role.
Rumours of a possible The Nanny reboot starring Cardi B have swirled for almost a year, and while it seemed at one point that they wouldn’t materialise, Drescher didn’t rule out the possibility in her latest chat.
Asked about her meeting with Cardi B’s team, she said: “We’re not ready to dive into it yet so that was just kind of laying out groundwork but do think she’s great so she would be kinda like my top choice, if she’s disciplined to do this show every week.
“It can be a grind, but she’s got a baby now [her one year-old daughter Kulture] and it could be a very comfortable, lovely way, you know, to work, be seen worldwide, and still do mini-concert tours when you’re on hiatus.”
Drescher acknowledged that she has yet to speak directly with Cardi B about a possible reboot, but she did say that if a reboot were to happen, somebody else than her would have to play the main character.
“We would have to write it for somebody else, which I would be excited to do actually,” she said.
“I could play Sylvia, the mom. And John Leguizamo [ER, Bloodline] could play [Fran’s dad], Morty. So, you know, we’ll see.
“There’s a lot of opportunities to do something fantastic with it and bring it right into the 21st century.”
The Nanny, which told the story of Queens native Fran Fine and the posh Maxwell Sheffield, aired from 1993 to 1999 on CBS.
