Joe Pasquale delivers PPE

Comedian Joe Pasquale has drawn praise from viewers of BBC One’s The One Show after being shown delivering PPE (personal protective equipment) to care homes across London.

On Wednesday’s episode of the popular current affairs programme, Pasquale was seen working as an NHS volunteer.

“There’s so many people off ill, self-isolating, that the crew that are normally doing it just aren’t able to get the stuff out to the carers,” he said.

“I think in this current crisis we’re in, if you pick up the phone or get on the internet and actually ask somebody, ‘can you actually do anything?’, that is the thing. No-one’s gonna knock on your door and ask you to do something.”

The One Show fans took to Twitter to express their admiration for Pasquale’s actions.

“Fair play, Joe Pasquale. Fair play,” wrote one commenter.

Another wrote: “I always thought [Pasquale] was just a squeaky voiced git... but after #TheOneShow I now know he’s a squeaky voiced git who is brilliant – how many other celebs are out there delivering PPE?? Respect!”

Many people were asking how Pasquale was able to obtain the PPE, which is currently in short supply. The equipment had in fact been procured by Helping Hands, the NHS Home Care service.

Others simply commented on Pasquale’s many arm tattoos. "Who else has just learned that Joe Pasquale is covered in tattoos?" asked one viewer.

“Nice to see David Beckham delivering PPE,” joked another.
