Another year, another season of The Simpsons wraps up, this time the show's 27th. Yes, we’ve enjoyed 27 entire seasons of the lovable yellow family (with a few more to go) and they’re still coming up with fresh couch gags.

Over the last few weeks, Fox has brought in numerous outsider artists to spice things up a bit (including Disney animators and Ren & Stimpy). This week, they decided to pay tribute to Swedish company IKEA and their flat-pack furniture.

In the gag, Homer attempts to build a couch but ends up just stealing the Flanders’ instead. It’s short but fun (but, like the episode, not The Simpsons at its best).

The segment was shown before the episode “Orange Is The New Yellow,” a play on Orange is the New Black. In it, Marge was taken back to prison, following a similar arch to the episode “Marge in Chains”.

The Simpsons’ directors aren’t the only ones to be inspired by IKEA; recently, Kanye West revealed he was “super inspired” by a trip to IKEA, adding “my mind is racing with the possibilities”.

In recent Simpsons news, one of the show’s writers described how letting Smithers come out as gay earlier this season was a hugely personal choice, inspired by his own son.
