The Walking Dead season 7 finale won't end on a cliffhanger

Fortunately, fans won't have the same complaints as last year

Last year's finale of The Walking Dead ended on a cliffhanger so huge that fans felt the need to complain for six months straight. Thankfully for them, it seems like the same won't be happening again.

Tonight (2 April) sees the arrival of the season seven finale, something many are assuming will see the reunion of all characters for the first time since last year's run.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Scott Gimple said: “Doing it again in the same way isn’t what we do. We did a big cliffhanger at the end of season four. We tried to mix it up and not go back to that because there is a definitive conclusion to the end of the season.”

True, in the past The Walking Dead has thrown in mammoth-sized cliffhangers at the end of its seasons, but it's assuring to know that the producers have decided to shy away from that this year in favour of completely putting a full stop on the build up to the oncoming war against The Saviours.

One thing to expect, however, is a death - and unlike last year, this one is sure to be made very clear to the audience. Our money's on Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), although these are the five other possible candidates.

The episode, ominously titled “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life,” airs in the US tonight and premieres in the UK tomorrow (3 April) at 9pm on FOX.
