The Walking Dead season 7: Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan explains why the show will never be the same again

'Some of your characters that you’ve grown to love are not going to be on the show anymore'

It’s fair to say the finale of The Walking Dead season six was a little frustrating. Scratch that, it was entirely frustrating; how can you leave such a huge series on a major cliffhanger?

For those unaware; season six finished with one character’s life in the balance. Which character? We don’t know, as when the villainous Negan’s bat came down upon one of the main cast, the camera switched to a first person perspective, failing to reveal which character's point of view we were experiencing.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who will return as Negan for season seven and is now a regular cast member, has spoken about the consequences of his character’s introduction to the show.

“It’s a reset on The Walking Dead world,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s f*cking Negan’s world now.”

The actor explained how “the first half of this season is Negan wreaking havoc. And some of your characters that you’ve grown to love are not going to be on the show anymore, and it’s going to end badly for them.

“It’s going to be a whole new beginning for The Walking Dead. Really, we’ve taken the show and just flipped it upside down. It’s a different show now. It’s going to have a different feeling.

“You’re going to see your favourite characters in a position that they’ve never been in before, which is super vulnerable and victimised.”

Recently, the trailer for season seven was shown at Comic-Con in San Diego, giving us a first look at The Kingdom's leader Ezekiel (Khary Payton) as well as his pet tiger.
