The Walking Dead spin-off: Harry Potter actor Frank Dillane confirmed for AMC show 'Cobalt'

He made his name playing a young Lord Voldemort. But now Harry Potter actor Frank Dillane will have to tackle soulless creatures of another kind in the forthcoming The Walking Dead spin-off.

The British actor who played Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been confirmed for the AMC spin-off which remains untitled but is referred to as 'Cobalt'.

The show will take place during the same zombie apocalypse as The Walking Dead but in another location.

‘Cobalt’ will be co-created by Robert Kirkman the graphic novelist who also provided the basis for The Walking Dead.

The show’s main roles, a divorced teacher and a guidance female counsellor, are as yet uncast but Dillane is set to play the latter’s son, according to Deadline.

Dillane is the son of actors Stephen Dillane and Noami Wirther.

Australian actress Alicia Debnam has also been confirmed for the spin-off, a pilot of which is due to being shooting soon.

The Walking Dead has been a major success for AMC with the first episode of series five attracting the biggest ever audience for a cable drama in US television history.
