Tiger King: Producer accuses Joe Exotic of ‘shooting animals just because he was pissed off’

TV star's also claimed to have fed a peacock he killed to his pets

More startling alleged revelations about Tiger King subject Joe Exotic have come to light.

The Netflix show has become a super-sized hit for Netflix since its debut in March, with more people watching it in its first 10 days than the second season of Stranger Things.

A new episode has even been announced, and will be available to stream this weekend.

However, while many are considering Exotic – the tiger tamer at its centre – to be an eccentric television personality, allegations of animal cruelty have come to light in recent weeks.

It’s now being claimed by producer Rick Kirkham that Exotic broke a peacock’s neck before feeding it to his tigers.

Kirkham, who spent a year filming with him, was discussing Tiger King with Metro when he made the allegation.

“A lot of what was missed was the Joe who was off camera,” he said. “Joe Schreibvogel not Joe Exotic.

“Joe Schreibvogel was a much weaker person, much more fearful of the animals than what they portray on Netflix,” he continued.

“When you see Joe in a cage with a tiger, the tiger was either blind or it was sedated. He was terrified of these tigers. He was scared of all the animals. I remember a peacock landing on him and he freaked out. He broke its neck and fed it to the tigers.”

Exotic is is currently serving 22 years in prison for hiring someone to kill animal rights activist Carole Baskin as well murdering tigers to make more room in his Oklahoma nature park.

Kirkham claimed that Exotic would hug the tigers while the cameras were rolling, but accused him of “kicking” them once they were switched off.

“I watched him shoot several animals just because he was p***ed off,” Kirkham said.

Exotic’s niece recently said the TV star was “100 times worse” than what viewers saw in the docuseries, while Louis Theroux – who filmed a BBC show with him in 2011 – claimed the zookeeper said he would kill all of the animals he owned if his nature park closed down.
