Tom Hardy reads another bedtime story, sends viewers into meltdown

Tom Hardy is taking over CBeebies in an attempt to keep the children of the UK entertained during coronavirus lockdown.

The BBC has announced “Tom week”, which will see the British actor read a selection of new bedtime stories from his back garden with his beloved dog Woody by his side.

He will read five news stories from 27 April to 1 May with a date for the sixth yet to be announced.

First up is Hug Me by Simone Ciralo, which follows a young cactus who sets off to find a friend who will hug him.

Other stories the Venom actor will read include Under the Same Sky by Robert Vescio and Nicky Johnston, There’s a Tiger in the Garden by Lizzy Stewart, Don’t Worry, Little Crab by Chris Haughton, and The Problem with Problems by Rachel Rooney and Zehra Hicks.

Speaking about Hardy’s return to the channel, Cheryl Taylor, Head of Content for BBC Children’s, said: “It goes without saying how thrilled we are to have Tom reading more stories for us.

“It’s during challenging times like this that the BBC serves its purpose to entertain the whole of the UK and these new stories are guaranteed to do just that with their themes of long distance friendship, sharing problems and true courage in overcoming seemingly impossible challenges.”

The first story will be broadcast on CBeebies on 27 April at 6.50pm.
