Netflix has announced that its 2020 reality series Too Hot to Handle is being renewed for a second season.

The first eight-episode series, inspired by the classic Seinfeld episode “The Contest”, saw contestants forced to abstain from sexual contact for weeks in order to win a prize kitty of up to $100,000 (£730,000_

The series went down well with viewers, who lauded its “trashy” premise and compared it favourably to Love Island.

Writing on Twitter, Netflix announced that another series of Too Hot to Handle will be arriving on screens in the future.

“NEWS: Too Hot To Handle is officially coming back for a second series,” wrote the streaming service, adding: “More details and a date to follow.”

Reaction to the news was mixed, with some viewers appearing wildly enthusiastic.

“Praise the NETFLIX GODS,” wrote one Twitter user, while another commented: “Omg yayyy i loved the first series lmaooo.”

However, other responses to the renewal ranged from indifference to abject horror.

“Pass me a fork I need to gouge my eyes out,” joked one less-impressed viewer.

“I don’t know if I can cope with more of this,” complained another.

The first season of Too Hot to Handle can be streamed on Netflix now.
