Top Gear: 'Unimpressed' audience members walk out of first episode before filming finishes

Chris Evans’s newly revamped Top Gear began filming on Thursday, with dozens of audience members reportedly leaving the studio before the show had finished filming.

The host told the reasonably sized audience they would be 'on their way by 4pm', yet filming continued at Dunsfold Aerodrome until the early hours of the evening.

A source told The Independent that from 4pm onwards people began to filter out of the studio, Evans and co-host Matt LeBlanc attempting to entertain the 'unimpressed' audience.

The pair allegedly had to retake lines numerous times, The Stig’s introduction proving to be one of the most problematic parts for Evans.

This was also the first time audience members were not allowed to take mobile phones or recording devices onto the set to take photographs.

According to reports, Brad Pitt pulled out of his guest slot last minute (this has yet to be substantiated). Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey and Social Network actor Jesse Eisenberg were instead brought into the show. During the interview segment, Evans was reportedly much more relaxed.

Ex-presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May recently decided on a name for their Amazon car show, now titled The Grand Tour. The trio left the BBC show following Clarkson’s infamous fracas.
