Twin Peaks season 3, episode 14: David Bowie makes a reappearance in episode dedicated to late singer
The star originally featured in the cameo role of FBI Agent Phillip Jeffries in the prequel film Fire Walk with Me
David Bowie made a reappearance on the latest episode of Twin Peaks, dedicated to the memory of the late musical icon.
Footage from the prequel film Fire Walk with Me, in which he played FBI Agent Phillip Jeffries, was incorporated as a memory suddenly recounted by Gordon Cole (David Lynch); all at the behest of actor Monica Bellucci, who appeared to him in a strange dream.
Bowie's role was, in concrete terms, nothing more than a cameo: a vision of Jeffries appears suddenly at the FBI headquarters in Philadelphia, distraught and rambling about a woman named Judy. He then points to Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and asks: "Who do you think that is there?"
However, Jeffries has become increasingly central to the plot of season 3, the show's grand revival; Jeffries, or at least someone assuming his identity, has been in contact with Dale Cooper's evil doppelganger, and even paid his associates to have Bad Cooper killed.
According to Harry Goaz, who plays police officer Andy Brennan on the show, Bowie was actually due to appear in the new series, but no scenes were filmed before his death. The credits for the episode, however, did dedicate it to his memory.
