Twin Peaks: It Is Happening Again trailer

With the long-anticipated return of Twin Peaks just over a week away, very little is known about what to expect from the 18 episodes which will unite the original cast with a whole host of new faces.

An atmospheric trailer has been released and while it fails to reveal any details, it hammers home one notion: it will be as atmospheric as you're hoping.

The trailer is comprised of a series of shots, some of which feature the old familiars: Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), Shelly Johnson (Madchen Amik), Lucy Moran (Kimmy Robertson) and the series' co-creator, writer and director David Lynch who reprises his role as Agent Gordon Cole. He can be seen sitting alongside Miguel Ferrer who'll feature posthumously as Albert Rosenfield.

New cast additions include Laura Dern, Naomi Watts, Michael Cera, Tim Roth and Monica Bellucci.

Just last week, Lynch suggested he will never make another film again. The director is the subject of a new documentary titled David Lynch: The Art Life which will be released in cinemas on 14 July.

The new Twin Peaks will premiere at 2am on Monday 22nd May on Sky Atlantic and NOWTV, in a simulcast with the US airing on Showtime. The episode will then be shown again at 9pm on 23rd May. You can catch up now on season one and two via Sky Box Sets.
