Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season two will air on Netflix in April (Netflix)

Netflix’s beloved sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is coming to an end.

Deadline reports that the Tina Fey and Robert Carlock created show’s fourth season will be its last.

However, Kimmy’s story may continue past the upcoming twelve episodes – the publication notes that the streaming service has entered into talks with producer Universal Television to create a movie that will serve as the series finale.

Six episodes from season four will reach Netflix on the 30 May, with the second half's premiere date remaining without a release date.

A trailer for the upcoming episodes has been uploaded online, featuring Ellie Kemper's character heading to work at the fictional tech company Giztoob. While all starts well, Kimmy's smile soon disappears as her new boss tasks her with firing another employee.

The series, which first started streaming in 2015, has been highly acclaimed, garnering 16 Emmy nominations, each previous season managing an Outstanding Comedy nomination.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season four reaches Netflix 30 May.
