Will Young accuses Spencer Matthews of ‘reaffirming offensive stereotypes’ with ‘least gay’ comment on This Is My House

Young later said that Made in Chelsea star had reached out to apologise to him

Will Young has criticised Spencer Matthews for questioning which contestant on This Is My House was “the least gay”.

The former Made in Chelsea star is one of the judges on the recently launched BBC competition series, in which four people claim to own the same house, with only one of them telling the truth.

During Thursday’s (15 April) episode of the show, Matthews questioned the group: “‘Who is the least gay, in your opinion?”

“Four, based on nothing,” comedian Jamali Maddix replied, with Matthews adding: “Four’s the least gay?”

On Monday (19 April), singer Young shared his thoughts on the show on Instagram Stories, writing that he found the comment “completely offensive”.

“Someone from Made in Chelsea asking ‘who is the least gay’ on This Is My House I find completely offensive,” Young wrote.

“What does ‘least gay’ mean? Most ‘masculine’, least ‘effeminate’. For f***s sake @BBC don’t you realise it is completely reaffirming offensive and shaming stereotypes.”

He continued: “I’m gay, take it up the bum and like football and cars. Might blow your mind @SpencerMatthews.”

Later on Monday, Young said that he had not heard back from the BBC and was looking for “some sort of understanding and sense of being educated from a privileged show person (which I am as well)”.

However, he did say that Matthews had “the maturity and respect to respond in a very understanding way”.

“I completely appreciate it. Thank you sir,” Young wrote.
