ITV’s The X Factor has hit another bump in the road after contestants Brooks Way were suspended just hours before the first live show began.

The Mirror claims the show’s producers were forced to take action after being made aware of allegations against one of the twins, Josh Brooks, relating to his girlfriend.

“They’re investigating serious allegations about Josh allegedly sending threatening messages to her,” an insider reportedly told the tabloid.

Following the suspension, comments made by the singer’s ex-girlfriend Amelia Clark were picked up by The Sun in which she claimed: ”The first time he lashed out at me was after a girl he had been messaging called me — he tried to wrestle the phone off me and hit me in the face, causing a nosebleed.”

Josh previously featured on The X Factor in 2014, making it through to the judges' houses stage, yet failing to make the live shows.

This year, partnered with brother Kyle under the name Brooks Way, the two made it through to the live finals yet have now been removed from The X Factor house. The X Factor official account Tweeted out: “Due to circumstances that have arisen, Brooks Way will not be appearing on tonight's #XFactor show.”

Josh has previously denied attacking Clark while ITV is currently investigating whether they will return. The Independent has reached out for comment. The X Factor live shows continue every weekend on ITV.
