Hidden deep in the BBC3 summer schedules was this gem described as a cross between 'The Office' and 'Kath and Kim'. 'Summer Heights High' took the "mockumentary" formula and applied it to an Australian high school.
What made the series special were the three main characters – spoilt "hottie" Ja'mie King, breakdancing troublemaker Jonah Takalua, and Mr G, a drama teacher for whom no crisis can't be turned into a musical – all played by the show's creator, Chris Lilley. Funny, touching and fully deserving of a wider audience.
