The Secret Life of Buildings / 8pm, Channel 4

So it's now been scientifically proven – by Tom Dyckhoff at least: open-plan offices are not conducive to hard work. In the second part of his fascinating new series, the architectural critic considers the workplace and has his brainwaves measured as he tries to write a newspaper article. He also visits a London comprehensive school where behaviour and learning improved dramatically after a team of architects remodelled the interiors.

Horizon / 9pm, BBC2

The winning properties of red, and how blue seemingly makes time speed up, as the science show returns with a film (not entirely unassociated with the above programme) about how colour affects the human brain.

Shooting Stars / 10pm, BBC2

Vic Reeves (above), hideously clad in what can only be described as a Max Wall-does-Teddy boy outfit, returns with Bob Mortimer for their super-annuated nonsense game show. Brigitte Nielsen proves game once she gets the measure of the proceedings, while chef James Martin looks like he'd rather be anywhere else.

Women in Love / 10pm, BBC4

Another chance to catch (and it's well worth it in my book) William Ivory's courageous collation of D H Lawrence's two novels about the Brangwen sisters, 'The Rainbow' and 'Women in Love'. The cast, headed by Rosamund Pike and Rachael Stirling as Gudrun and Ursula, is uniformly excellent.
