The new multi-channel package launched by BSkyB on 1 September has increased the average number of weekly satellite hours watched by satellite and cable owners. The pre-multi- package figure was 6.54 hours, this rose initially to 8.13 hours but has dipped to 7.22 hours. Satellite's percentage of the television audience does not seem to have increased at all, indeed, in the post-multi-channel weeks it dipped from 6.8 per cent to 6.1 per cent. Of the new channels, Discovery is the most popular with satellite and cable users giving it 14 minutes a week on average. Least popular is UK Living which has dipped to five minutes watched a week.
