Chris Evans was voted ugliest man on television, in More] magazine, ahead of Ken Morley (Coronation Street's Reg Holdsworth) and Rowan Atkinson. Holdsworth's standings improved in the national T-shirt charts where Reg T-shirts were at No 1. In What's On TV, voting patterns followed history by selecting Jeremy Beadle as biggest turn-off on television.

Elsewhere: Blue Peter celebrated 35 years on screen; Richard Wilson released an exercise video; and Roseanne Arnold (nee Barr) landed the job of 'Dear Rosey', the agony aunt on a number of US newspapers - she got the job having bought the respective publications.
