Let’s help India,” she said in a video on Sunday.

The 39-year-old vocalist tweeted: “India, I love you and will continue to advocate/pray for you.”

In the video she said: “India is America’s strongest and largest democratic ally, Mr President, just like you said on the campaign trail and now regularly in the Oval Office, we are all one family, and America always helps its friends.”

On Friday, the UK’s prime minister, Boris Johnson, pledged support to India, saying: “We’re looking at what we can do to help and support the people of India.”

He added that the UK could help by potentially providing ventilators or therapeutics.
