A motorist had to be rescued by boat when his car became stranded in a flooded ford near Ingatestone, in Essex, yesterday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain across the south and south-west of England, saying flooding is likely due to the already sodden ground.

The Environment Agency has issued two flood warnings in the south-west and 24 flood alerts across other parts of England.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service used a boat and water rescue team to help the man to safety.
