Over the coming weeks, the latest in sustainable and eco-friendly design will be exhibited at the New York International Gift Fair, while environmentalists, policy makers and urban planners from around the world will gather together to discuss environmentally friendly urban areas at the Ecocity World Summit in Montreal.

This event is the second of two editions of the New York International Gift Fair held in 2011. The event is open to trade professionals only and attracts around 35,000 visitors per year. Earlier in 2011 the NYIGF honored a variety of products including those categorized as "green." The event attracts retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers' representatives. The categories of goods on display at the show range from home furnishings to fashion accessories to dog toys.

The expo coincides with decisions on the Good Design Awards 2011, including the Good Design Long Life Award, which honors products that "help preserve global resources and protect the environment."

Low Carbon Expo 2011

The organizers behind this eco-friendly event claim that it is the first low carbon exhibition to be held in Wales. The Low Carbon Expo 2011 will showcase energy products and services alongside interactive low- carbon workshops and live demonstrations. Over 100 companies will be exhibiting at the event and around 3,000 visitors are expected to attend. The event is far smaller than the Greenbuild Expo in October, but the Low Carbon expo is in its first year.
