In pictures: The Mammal Society unveils winners of photography competition

From a jumping rat to a pair of stoats play-fighting, the Mammal Society has revealed the winners of its annual photography competition.

This year entrants were asked to submit photos capturing extraordinary moments and challenging misconceptions towards the most misunderstood mammals in Britain.

The winning submission featured a brown rat leaping into the air, while an image of a fox licking by Julie Milne was the runner up.
