These stunning images are from this year's Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) international environmental photographer of the year competition.
The exhibition, in partnership with Atkins, recognises photographers who use their talent to raise awareness of environmental and social issues - from places and people to vulnerable ecosystems and communities that are struggling with a changing climate.
The 3,000 entries were judged on impact, composition, originality and technical ability by the selectors.
The works will be displayed at the Royal Geographical Society, London from 10 April – 3 May 2013, touring to Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre, Forestry Commission England, in Cumbria from 25 May – 1 September 2013, culminating at CIWEM’s new headquarters, conference and members’ facility in Farringdon, London in Autumn 2013.
The Prizes will be announced at a private awards ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society on 9 April 2013. The Prizes are: the Environmental Photographer of the Year Award of £5000, the Young Environmental Photographer of the Year (under 18) Award of £1,000 and the Environmental Video of the Year Award of £1,000 judged and sponsored by Robert Harding World Imagery.
