Bites: Get an Eiffel of Ducasse's new place

International Michelin star Alain Ducasse is climbing new heights in Paris. Well, to the second floor of Gustave Eiffel's iconic monument, anyway, where he's re-opened the Jules Verne restaurant (pictured). With early reviews suggesting the food is now much closer to matching the view, those hoping for a Valentine's table would be best to put their name down now – for 2009.

Meanwhile, on this side of La Manche and up another famous tower, the restaurant on the eighth floor of the Oxo Tower has once again become the subject of online mirth. Those still blissfully unaware of what the dining room in the South Bank's landmark tower has come to stand for can turn to www.urban dictionary. com, which carries a helpful entry for the euphemism coined in 2003 in a review on london-eating.co.uk. That the original "review" was re-submitted to the site earlier this month, inspiring an outbreak of follow-up postings, shows there's still something timeless about a good double entendre.
