Best Xbox One games of 2014
From Microsoft exclusive Titanfall, to recent hit Destiny, it's been a good year for games

Microsoft's follow-up its Xbox 360 console was not the 720 as many had predicted. Rather, it was the Xbox One, a machine which launched in November last year with an impressive line-up that included the first-person shooter Call of Duty: Ghosts, soccer fave FIFA 14, driving classic Forza Motorsport 5 and the historical action-adventure Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag which, given it was the sixth instalment of the franchise, appeared to be suffering the same numerical issues as the console it graced.
But the Xbox One really came into its own in 2014 as Microsoft brushed aside the pre-release controversies (the limits placed on used games and the requirement to connect the console to the internet once-a-day), slashed the initial £429 price to as low as £329 and de-bundled Kinect.
It may be lagging behind the PS4 in terms of sales – six million to Sony's box of tricks' 13 million – but gamers have been able to sit back and enjoy a host of games which, apparently stands at over 300, 30 of which – like the launch title Killer Instinct - are entirely exclusive to the Xbox One. So whether you're looking for Christmas presents or considering splashing out on a new next-gen console, here is our pick of the best Xbox One games of 2014:
