2K Games announced today that the much anticipated BioShock Infinite has been delayed, confirming a new release date of 26 February 2013.
‘When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing, said Irrational Games’ Creative Director Ken Levine. ‘Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February.’
In BioShock Infinite the player assumes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, who is sent to the floating city of Columbia to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood.
Infinite is set before events of previous BioShock titles, which took place in the underwater metropolis of Rapture, and while its still unclear as to whether Irrational Games view the games as occurring within the same story arc, similar themes are carried forward such as the player’s use of psionic abilities as well as more conventional weaponry.
